The Department confirms its support for Youth and Popular Education

“Disseminate the values of popular education and federate networks to promote the pooling of resources …”. These are the objectives of CRAJEP or Regional Committee of Youth and Popular Education Associations since its creation on July 17, 2003. The leaders of this committee – its president Gisèle Surjus, its vice-president Soukaina Soula and its secretary Morgane Orrière – were received at the Palais de la Source this Friday, December 10, by the President of the Department Cyrille Melchior, surrounded by his collaborators.

After having followed with interest the presentation of the functioning and development prospects of CRAJEP by the association managers, President Cyrille Melchior, attentive to activities and projects, correctly apprehended the desire of this federation of associations to create a House of Popular Education and a Civic Service Coordination Center. “We also want to bring together the continuing education offer and set up structured territorial dialogue processes, to allow young people to participate in the development of youth policies that concern them” added Gisèle Surjus.

President Cyrille Melchior, for his part, recalled that “The Department is resolutely committed to strongly supporting youth and popular education. Democracy must be brought to life, the values of the secular Republic and citizenship made active. To achieve this, it is necessary to have a shared vision and governance as well as efficient tools ”.

This first meeting thus opens up important perspectives which meet the essential needs of CRAJEP through the commitment of the President of the Departmental Council to “create a strong and lasting partnership”. New working meetings have been scheduled for the beginning of next year to define the implementation of concrete and measurable projects in favor of citizens and young people.
