Inti Creates announced on December 21 that the 2D action game “Grim Guardians: Demon Purge]will be released on February 23, 2023. The compatible platforms are PC (Steam) / Nintendo Switch / PS4 / PS5 / Xbox One / Xbox Series X|S, and the price is 3480 yen.
There is also a bundled version for Nintendo Switch/PS5, scheduled for release on March 23, 2023. The price is 5280 yen for the regular version and 9980 yen for the limited edition (both taxes included).
“Grimm Guardians Demon Purge” is a 2D side scrolling action game set in a school that has become a castle of the devil. The main characters are Shinobu Kamizono (CV: Emo Uema) and Mayo Kamizono (CV: Chinami Hashimoto), high school sisters. The two, who make a living as demon hunters, fight to restore the school to its former form.
This work supports single-player play and two-player cooperative play, and in the case of solo play, you can switch between main characters at any time. Shinobu, the older sister, is a long-range attacker whose main weapon is a submachine gun with a long range and high rate of fire. Maya, the younger sister, specializes in technical hand-to-hand combat, using origami to create various weapons. She has low physical strength, but her attack power is very high.
Depending on the characteristics of the enemy, the sisters’ attacks will be used well, and the two will be able to conquer the stage with their cooperative actions. She also has a powerful shot called the Extermination Bullet, which is fired by combining the power of the two. If one of the sisters runs out of strength, the other can be brought back to life.
The two main characters are also equipped with sub-weapons with different characteristics, usable by consuming ARMA points. Shinobu’s secondary weapons are primarily meant to supplement the normal narrow attack range, and many of Midnight’s are techniques that help get close to the devil. New secondary weapons can be obtained by defeating boss demons. Using that secondary weapon, you can enjoy further stage capture and new pathfinding elements.
In addition, this work features a style system that allows the player to freely select the level of difficulty and a gameplay that changes during the replay. There are three styles in the style system: Casual Style, Veteran Style, and Legend Hunter Style, and the difficulty increases in order. In casual style, there is no kickback when hit, and the life is infinite. The legend hunter style has a challenging difficulty level and can be used by unlocking it under certain conditions. There are no downsides to the style you choose, and you can even change it throughout the game.
The limited edition of this work includes a collection of color setting material, a soundtrack CD (1 set) and an acrylic keychain “Sister Change!”. It will be contained in a limited box designed by the official illustrator Daisuke Ito.
