In Ukraine, more and more cases of infection with the Delta coronavirus strain among children are being recorded. The country found itself in the middle of a new wave of COVID-19, which will only grow in the future and can lead to 50 thousand patients in hospitals.
And it will probably end only at the end of summer 2022, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council warned at a briefing on October 5 (NSDC) Alexey Danilov… Reported by the correspondent OBOZREVATELwho attended the event.
The official noted that on the eve of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy decided to declassify all statistics on the incidence of coronavirus in the country, “so that the population knows the whole truth.”
Referring to the estimates of the NSDC specialists, he noted that today 22 thousand beds are occupied by patients with COVID-19 or suspicion of it in medical institutions of different regions. The total bed fund put into operation is about 42 thousand. At the same time, the capacity of the medical system allows you to deploy 80 thousand beds.
“50-55 thousand people will be in hospital beds at the peak of the epidemic. While we are somewhere in the middle of this wave, and it will continue to grow. This was calculated by the NSDC experts,” Danilov said.
He added that now a completely different scenario for the course of the disease has a mutated variant of COVID-19 Delta. In particular, this strain affects children more actively than before.
“There is a forecast that all this will end by the end of next summer, but predicting something during a pandemic is a thankless task,” Danilov summed up.
Recall: per day on October 4 in Ukraine diagnosed another 9846 coronavirus infections, 918 of them are children. 1,881 patients were admitted to hospitals. For the entire time of the pandemic, 2,469,856 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed, of which 57,206 people (+317 per day) died, and 2,268,752 (+4229) recovered.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Health has failed vaccination against COVID-19 in the country. Minister Viktor Lyashko promised to immunize 5 million people during his 100 days in office, but the plan was fulfilled with a delay. Ukrainians continue to die from the consequences of the coronavirus in hospitals, where there are not enough beds at the beginning of the new wave. Read more about the situation in material.
As reported OBOZREVATEL, as of October 5 eight areas correspond to the “orange” quarantine area… This is a warning level, which indicates a complication of the epidemic situation with COVID-19, which may ultimately lead to increased restrictions.
