At it, the results of the consultations with NATO on the package of Objectives for Collective Defense Capabilities for the Republic of Bulgaria were considered and adopted. At today’s meeting, the report of the Chief of Defense, General Konstantin Popov, on his dismissal from his position and exemption from military service was considered.
Before the members of the Defense Council, General Popov emphasized that the election of a new Chief of Defense is of extremely important importance and must be considered in the context of the role of the Chief of Defense and the Defense Staff in the functioning and construction of the Bulgarian Army and Armed Forces. for which it is necessary to seek broad and reasonable consent.
