Stade Français was outclassed (37-9) by Toulon on Saturday night at Mayol. A disappointment for the Parisian manager Gonzalo Quesada.
Gonzalo Quesada (manager of Stade Français after the 37-9 defeat in Toulon) : “There was a very good team from Toulon opposite who certainly had a lot to prove and show after his defeat at Clermont. We knew that the Toulonnais would have come back and had this need for a mandatory victory. Even though we had an almost perfect start to the match, we made two big mistakes that really made us lose our footing. In the second half, we could have got closer but we didn’t score. It’s a big disappointment. It’s not a disaster to lose against this Toulon team at Mayol but we didn’t respect our principles of play. We got lost and we panicked. We lacked control. If we want to go further this season, we will have to quickly correct that. »

Laurent Panis (Stade Français hooker): “We do ten good first minutes. Afterwards, we come out of the match on a few errors that we pay cash. They were able to hurt us and we didn’t come back. The match started well, we lead 6-0. Afterwards, unfortunately, they make two counter-attacks which hurt. This is the first time that we have taken such a wide score this season. Kudos to them. We have not been able to turn the tide as we usually do. We come out of the first two places, but we’re not going to lie to each other, we had favorable results for a while to stay there. The Top 14 is a marathon, everyone knocks on the door. This weekend, we lost this second place, it was hanging in our face. It’s a bit of a headache because the score is wide, but the Championship is not over. The most important thing is to be in the six. »
