The Dutch singer S10, who is known to us for his participation in the film The Eurovision Song Contest in 2022 with the song the deep, has struggled with mental problems for years. A documentary has now been made about her life, and in particular these mental problems.
Directors Linda Hakeboom and Rolf Hartogensis contribute That things are going well for me an open and vulnerable look at the young singer’s life. It was the most important of the recordings during The Eurovision Song Contest in Turin where S10, alias Stien den Hollander, played for nearly 200 million viewers worldwide. But filming was also done at her house.
Stien describes how she ended up in various youth centers at a young age due to mental problems. “What I experienced then, I will take with me the rest of my life,” she says. “My reputation has grown in recent years, but at the same time my past began to catch up with me. I suffered traumas that I tried to hide. But is it okay if I keep doing that? Maybe it’s better to fight my inner demons. “
The makers chose S10 for a documentary on this sensitive topic, something that many young people of this generation struggle with, as the singer is very popular among young people. The hope is to make the topic more open for discussion among this target group.
The end of next month is European Mental Health Week. The documentary will therefore be broadcast on NPO3 on Wednesday, May 22.
