The National Government issued Decrees 0885, 0886, 0887, 0888 and 0889, through which salary and benefits increases are defined for public servants in the state education sector.
In this way, the National Government approved the increase in wages by 14.62% for 2023, with a retroactive effect from January 1 of this year.
This measure applies to:
- Public teaching and administrative employees of State or Official Universities (Decree 0885 of 2023).
- Public teaching employees of the National Pedagogical Institute (Decree 0886 of 2023).
- Public servant teachers and teaching directors at the service of the State at the preschool, basic and secondary levels (Decree 0887 of 2023).
- Public servants, ethno-educators, teachers, and teaching directors who attend to the indigenous population in indigenous territories, at the preschool, basic, and secondary levels (Decree 0888 of 2023).
- Public teaching employees of residence halls, technological institutions, university institutions or technological schools and professional technical institutions of the national order (Decree 0889 of 2023).
“In compliance with the agreements that arose from the negotiation between the National Government and the trade union centrals and federations of public employees in Colombia, these measures were taken that allow us to meet the needs of public servants in the country’s education sector,” he said. the Minister of Education, Aurora Vergara Figueroa.
The Ministry of Education reiterates its commitment to the dignity and well-being of teachers and public servants in the sector. “We continue to advance to guarantee the protection of the labor rights of the entire educational community,” added Minister Vergara.
Minister Aurora Vergara thanked the Education Secretariats and Higher Education Institutions that have been coordinating with the Ministry their ability to offer this payment as soon as possible.
