The declining popularity of bread: a shift in Russian eating habits

The inhabitants of the country abandoned the long-term habit.

One of the main products on the table during the Soviet Union was bread. Cheap and nutritious, it served as an addition to most dishes and was found in the kitchens of famous actors, scientists, as well as in the homes of workers in factories and mines.

At the same time, bread was not just a snack, this product became a real symbol. From time immemorial in Rus’, flour products were highly valued, and the times of the USSR were no exception.

The situation has changed only in modern Russia. One of the reasons is a change in the composition of the usual roll. Manufacturers began to add various preservatives to it, which noticeably spoiled the taste. In addition, the price has risen, and due to the variety of products in stores, many began to abandon the usual snack.

As a result, today bread is a rarity. The usual bun is bought only in exceptional cases, forgetting about the gastronomic heritage. And only a few people bake bread at home.
