The decision in the extradition case of Asanža will be made shortly after the new year – Abroad – News

Testimony ended in London’s Old Bailey court on Thursday, but the judge last week agreed to a request from Asanz’s lawyers that more time be given to prepare the closing arguments.

Baraicer’s defense was given four weeks to prepare arguments, and the US government’s side two more.

The 49-year-old Asanza has been charged with violating U.S. anti-espionage laws in connection with thousands of military and diplomatic documents published by WikiLeaks in 2010.

Asanze hid in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for seven years to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he was suspected of raping his colleagues. Last November, the Swedish Public Prosecutor’s Office closed its investigation into the case.

In April last year, Asanz was expelled from the embassy and detained by British police.

The US Justice Department wants to sue Asan for leaking documents.

He faces 175 years in prison.
