As “Delfi” informed the singer, the album includes 10 compositions in Latvian, English, as well as Russian. Work on songwriting started already in 2018.
The album outlines a variety of musical styles, from pop, rock, hip-hop, R’n’B to indie, electronic music, which, according to the singer, gives the album an unconventional sound.
Evija Smagare says that the message of the album includes existential themes, where everyday situations alternating with relationships, choices, courage, as well as with more global themes – about the world and man’s place in it – alternate.
“I have always been fascinated by how music and sound can create, influence and change a person’s feelings, so when writing this album, my main determining factor was feeling. The synergy of the song’s message and sound is important to me, because combining these two elements in a successful composition “I was happy to experiment, so I tried not to limit myself either stylistically or thematically, which, in my opinion, is completely normal, working on my first album and looking for my own musical direction,” says Evija about the creation of the album.
This stylistic diversity was also influenced by collaborations with local artists – producer Makree, rapper Nakts and multi-artist Artūrs Jenotas, who gave the album a refreshing sound.
The author of the text and music is Evija Smagare herself. The producer of the album is Armands Varslavāns, who is also a co-author of the music. Members of the Evija group Mareks Logins (drums), Jānis Aizupietis (keys), Rūdolfs Iļķēns, or Rugo (electronics), Andrejs Orlovs (bass guitar), Reinis Petrovičš (bass guitar) have participated in the creation of several songs.
Artistic design of the album – Laila Gross. The author of the album title is Sabīne Blūma-Blūmane
The album is available on all major music streaming sites.
Evija Smagare is a young singer who made her debut in 2012 and became known to the general public after her participation in the Latvian concert tour “Another Still Life” of the group “Brainstorm”.
