The death toll from the stampede in the South Korean capital, Seoul, has risen to 146, Sky News Arabia reports, and the Yonhap news agency reported that the incident took place in Seoul as a huge crowd poured into a central area of the South Korean capital to celebrate Halloween.
The official news agency said a large-scale incident occurred in Itaewon-dong Yongsan-gu in Seoul this afternoon, where crowds gathered to celebrate Halloween.

Firefighters said they received one-to-one reports of people complaining of breathing difficulties, etc. Close to the Hamilton Hotel in Itaewon.
He explained that firefighters’ cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) has provided help to dozens of people who have had heart attacks and been transferred to a nearby hospital.

The agency noted that the parties took place in various locations over the weekend before Halloween and the incident is believed to have occurred as a crowd gathered in a narrow alley on a ramp near the Hamilton Hotel.
Authorities confirmed that Seoul Metropolitan Police will set up a headquarters to investigate the specific circumstances of the incident, such as whether companies in Itaewon and surrounding areas have complied with their security procedures.
