The death toll from the storm in the United States rises to 34 – Lanza Digital

Storm in Chicago, USA

Though weather conditions improved during the day, more than 55 million people are on low-temperature alerts, with December 25 being the coldest since 1983 for cities including Miami, Tampa, Orlando and West Palm Beach.

The US authorities have brought the death toll to 34 due to the storm that is plaguing the country.

The highest number of deaths was recorded in New York state, as at least twelve people died as a result of the snowstorm.

The extent of the winter storm was unprecedented, affecting parts of the Midwest and eastern United States, according to CBS.

Millions of people sheltered from the frost overnight and into the early morning, however the storm trapped some residents in their homes due to snowdrifts. It has also left thousands of citizens without electricity.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said it was the “most devastating” storm in Buffalo’s history, with nearly 4 feet of snow falling.

“I can’t overstate how dangerous the conditions continue to be,” said Hochul, urging residents to stay off the roads at Christmas.
