A six-year-old child died tragically one week after he was declared recovering from leukemia, as a result of an infection.
A report published in the British newspaper “Mirror” indicated that the child, “Zach Martin”, who is from the county of “Derbyshire” in England, was unable to overcome the infection after seven days of winning the cancer.
The newspaper quoted his mother as saying that her child was fighting the disease and faced every challenge with a smile, but his body had not yet recovered from the effects of his struggle with the disease when he contracted this infection.
It is noteworthy that the child had been diagnosed with leukemia when he was two years old, and underwent chemotherapy over three and a half years, and he was scheduled to finish chemotherapy last year, but in February 2019, specifically two days before the boy’s birthday Doctors discovered that his condition had relapsed and that he needed another round of chemotherapy.
The newspaper stated that bone marrow transplantation was his only hope, and doctors were unable to find a suitable donor in the boy’s family, but that after a suitable donor was eventually found, the child spent four difficult months in a children’s hospital in the British city of Birmingham.
But it wasn’t long before the joy of his recovery turned sorrow and pain, after he contracted the infection and died seven days later, leaving his family in shock.
