Manama: The deadline for expatriates living and working illegally in Bahrain without adequate documents to correct them will expire today. The country’s Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has asked those without proper residence documents and those still with earlier revoked flexi permits to legalize their work and residence.
Expatriates residing in the country with expired and invalid residence and employment documents and those who have taken flexi permits have the opportunity to register with Bahrain’s Labor Registration Program and legalize their residence and employment. Currently, only those accused of criminal cases or violations of the law, or those who have arrived on a visitor visa and have not returned after its expiration, are not eligible to participate in the labor registration program.
The deadline for correcting documents ends today and nationwide checks will begin in the coming days. It warned that legal action and other measures, including deportation, would be taken against those found to be living or working illegally in the country. The Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has also asked the public to report any information related to the country’s labor sector or illegal jobs by registering at www.lmra.bh or by calling 17506055.
