The Deadline Approaches: Document Your Income for Benefits and Allowances

The deadline for people to document their income to the labor authorities is approaching. Subsequently, they will be able to draw further child and care allowance or housing allowance. For this benefit, applicants must also provide housing costs.

Benefit recipients must provide proof of income and, in the case of housing allowance, housing-related costs incurred and paid for the third calendar quarter of 2023 so that their entitlement to them does not expire.

“At the same time, on the basis of these documents, any increase in housing costs, for example in connection with rising energy prices or a drop in income, will be reflected in the amount of benefits already provided,” she explained on website spokeswoman for the Labor Office of the Czech Republic Kateřina Beránková.

In the case of child allowances and increased care allowance, the obligation to document qualifying income always applies for the past quarter. In the case of housing allowances, income and expenses are documented twice a year.

The documents must be submitted to the Labor Office of the Czech Republic by 31 October 2023 at the latest, so that the payment of the benefit does not stop. However, this is possible at the latest by the end of the fourth quarter, i.e. by 31 December 2023, so that the right to it does not expire.

“The easiest and fastest form of communication with the Labor Office of the Czech Republic is the electronic one, for example through the Citizen’s Identity tools or the data box. Clients can do everything from the comfort of their homes, and in addition, they save a lot of time,” advised the general director of the office, Daniel Krištof.

In addition, people can communicate with the authorities electronically not only in the case of applications for benefits and the submission of various necessary documents, but also in the case of applications for employment mediation and inclusion in the register of job applicants or unemployment support.

It is possible to send several forms ways. “For selected benefits, the web application will make it possible to send a simplified online application in front of the Citizen’s Identity (i.e. via Bank Identity, eCitizen, eGovernment Mobile Key or perhaps NIA ID) or a data box. If clients decide to fill out a standard application, they can send it electronically with a guaranteed electronic signature, data box, post (with handwritten signature) or hand it in at the office of the relevant workplace of the Labor Office of the Czech Republic,” explained Beránková.

In the case of payments, the Labor Office of the Czech Republic recommends choosing the option of sending money directly to the client’s bank account.
