On October 12, Saturday at 11:30 a.m., the anniversary XV MF “Days of the music in the Balaban house” in Plovdiv will present on its stage the legendary pianist, conductor and composer Antoni Donchev. In the new “concert-meeting” format created by the festival, the presenter will be the program director of Jazz FM Radio Svetoslav Nikolov, and the audience in Balaban’s house will have the privilege of enjoying the mastery of one of the most distinguished Bulgarian jazz musicians.
The following day, October 13, Sunday at 6:30 p.m., the angelic voices of the Sofia Chamber Choir “Vasil Arnaudov” under the direction of Teodora Pavlovich will fill the Small Basilica with the concert “Tebe poem”. The musical event is combined with the opening of the exhibition “Image and presence” of the talented young artist Katerina Katsarova, whose iconographic works remind of the encounter between heavenly spirituality and the earthly, ephemeral world of reality. The great-granddaughter of the doyen of the Bulgarian school of composers – Academician Marin Goleminov, Katerina Katsarova is the winner of numerous awards from Bulgarian and international competitions, including: prizes from the Bih Khalid Foundation Competition “Science without Borders”, the “Anatomica Vesalius” competition of the Moscow university in 2021, “Spirited Arts Prize” in 2022, “Derwent Art Prize” 2022 and “Saatchi Art for Change Prize” 2023. Her works have been exhibited in galleries in Sofia, Brussels, Venice, London.
