“The day will come when we will say what we did and what you did”… Nasrallah “to the movement”: We were silent!

The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, addressed the Free Patriotic Movement, saying: “Since the signing of the understanding, we have always been keen on understanding, and we are still, and I personally have been and still are the people most keen on it. The understanding did not turn us into one party, nor did it make one subservient to the other.” .

And he added, during the honorary ceremony organized by Hezbollah on the occasion of the day of the wounded, that, “It is not in the understanding that one of us is obligated to accept with the other the person of the President of the Republic, nor the President of the Council nor the Prime Minister. This is their natural right.”

And he continued, “When we supported General Michel Aoun’s candidacy for the presidency, it was not on the basis that an understanding obliges us. Originally, General Michel Aoun did not ask us to support him. Rather, we took the initiative and told him that in the elections we took a decision to support his candidacy, and we did not make a deal or agreement.”

Nasrallah clarified that, “When we support the candidacy of Minister Suleiman Franjieh, this does not mean that we have departed from the understanding. I neither betray you nor you betray me.”

He pointed out that, “During the last period, there was a difference of opinion in some matters, and some figures in the movement attacked Hezbollah in the media, and we were silent. We had observations, but we said them in the internal sessions.”

And he stressed that, “When we do not respond, it does not mean that we accept the accusation leveled at us with regard to building the state and combating corruption. We have a long and broad vision and words, but we say them in the internal sessions, and when we say our words in the media, we will open the door to all those who are caught in troubled waters.”

Nasrallah said, “I am known for Hezbollah. I am the most keen of people on this relationship and this understanding. I do not agree with any assessment that Hezbollah understood, betrayed, challenged, or did not implement the terms of the understanding. A day will come and it will be transferred to building states and combating corruption. What did we do, what did you do, and what did we do except?”

And he concluded, “We will remain keen on our country, its security, sovereignty, and prevention, and together we will get it out of the state of chaos, collapse, or the abyss they want to push it to, with our willingness to sacrifice and cooperate, we can accomplish all this as long as there are sincere sacrifices among us.”
