Jura Sud Foot (N2) – AS Saint-Etienne (L1)
Sunday (6.30 p.m.) – Louhans
Eliminate a poorly classified D1, Jura Sud has already done it in 1998-1999 by removing Toulouse to reach the round of 16 of the Coupe de France. And in the previous round, the team of the fifth national level had released that year … Saint-Étienne, then in D2 but already six times winner of the competition.

A fourth round of 16
This hour of glory for the Jura club should give inspiration to the current team, which will also face Saint-Etienne on January 2. Born in 1991, the Jura Sud Foot club celebrated its 30th anniversary last June. And is preparing to know his fourth round of 16 after 1999, 2014 and 2015. “To qualify for the round of 16 would be historic”, explained Edmond Pierre, president of the club, in the columns of Progress.
On December 19, 1998, Jura Sud dismissed Saint-Etienne, thanks to a 1-0 success at Lons-le-Saunier, in front of 6,000 spectators. Fabien Roche, trained in Lyon, scored the only goal of the game in the 57th. Julien Sablé, Jérôme Alonzo or even Lionel Potillon, who will join FC Sochaux later, are holders but cannot prevent the elimination of Saint-Etienne, then coached by Robert Nouzaret. For their part, Diego Garzitto’s men were eliminated in 16th by Clermont (then in CFA) but won a promotion in CFA at the end of the season.

Already a performance this season
The fourth national level, the Jurassians of Moirans-en-Montagne are still there today. And they have already beaten a club superior to them this season, by going to win on the lawn of Bourg-Péronnas (National) on November 26 before removing Saint-Denis from Reunion (5-2). If they will not play on their lawn, but in the sports park of Bram de Louhans, and that the Greens will be widely favored despite their small form in the league, Jura Sud can believe in a new feat.
