The conflict between Bárbara Rey and her son has taken a new turn after the publication of the photographs of the star with King Juan Carlos in a Dutch magazine. The one from Totana has accused Ángel Cristo Jr. of having stolen that sensitive material and warns that there are more images, while Sofía Cristo wishes her brother to “rot in jail” for what he has done.
As Bárbara’s daughter recalled this Wednesday in Espejo Público, the photos that have now seen the light of day were stolen from her mother’s house years ago, when the star moved to Marbella. “My brother is doing the move,” the DJ revealed, pointing directly to Ángel.
However, three decades ago there was talk of a theft of sensitive material at Bárbara Rey’s house. In 1997, the artist herself sued Manuel Prado y Colón de Carvajal, private administrator and close friend of King Juan Carlos, accusing him of stealing cassettes, video tapes and compromising photographs along with a very important person whose identity she never wanted to reveal. .
After hearing the news, Bárbara spoke to the media at the door of her house and claimed to be controlled and threatened, even stating that they had installed microphones on the furniture in her home and that her phones were tapped. “Everything disappeared. The tapes had been erased, the photos had been blurred… (…) They replaced everything I had with things that were worthless,” he said.
“They come and go in my house whenever they feel like it, I don’t care whether I set the alarm or not,” added the actress, who publicly denounced what was happening to her. “They have been threatening me and my children for months… But pay attention that I am looking at the camera. “They will kill me, but everyone will know who it was.”

The relationship between King Juan Carlos and Bárbara Rey caused rivers of ink to flow since the 90s. And the photographs revealed by Ángel Cristo Jr., which were taken in May 1994, could not be the only evidence of the romance between the emeritus and the artist, not even the most scandalous.
As Emilio Alonso, former director of the Higher Defense Information Center (CESID), recounted in the book The Chief of Spies, Bárbara blackmailed the king on several occasions, threatening to make public material that would prove their meetings.
The first blackmail would occur, precisely, in 1994. According to Alonso, the monarch himself called him to inform him that he had had a date with Bárbara Rey in which he had had “some gesture with her”, such as touching her breast, and that Several days later someone had called Zarzuela to say that they had photos of that meeting and asked for $100,000 not to publish them.
Three years later, Barbara’s entourage would once again put the Royal Family in trouble. Always according to the version of the former director of the CESID, the star had in her possession “a recorded telephone conversation with the king”, in addition to “three videos taken at her home. The first in the dining room, the second in the bed and the third also in the bed.”
Faced with the threat of this material seeing the light of day, an agreement was finally reached whereby Bárbara would receive “100 million pesetas up front and 50 million pesetas a year, in monthly portions, for 10 years.” As he explained: “The monthly contributions will be paid by the CESID. The 100 million is not yet known.”
Bárbara Rey charges like never before against her son, Ángel Cristo: “She apologizes for an abuser and that says a lot.”
