The day … Donald Trump crossed New York in an IndyCar!

In 2012, the now ex-president of the United States of America took a trip to New York in the seat of an IndyCar single-seater driven by… Mario Andretti. A good slice of the unusual to relive on video.

When it comes to the unusual, it’s hard to beat Donald Trump. The 45th President of the United States, defeated in the November 2020 elections by Joe Biden, will be remembered as a statesman with an unpredictable temperament whose mandate was marked by controversies and two impeachment procedures, a historic first.

From the time of the “Apprentice”

Years before dreaming of himself in the Oval Office in Washington, Donald Trump was better known to the general public not only as a businessman with a prolific but tumultuous career, but also as a star of the small screen. From 2004 to 2015, he hosted the show “The Apprentice” which consisted of a program to detect businessmen and women built like a reality TV show.

It was in the context of one of these shows, in 2012, that the real estate mogul traded in his leader’s costume for that of a passenger. But not in just any car: a single-seater fromIndyCar, the North American equivalent of Formula 1!

A tour of New York at 200 km / h… or not!

In the video below, we can see Trump welcome at the foot of his New York ‘Trump Tower’ a two-seater car piloted by the famous Mario Andretti. The former Italian-American pilot, 80 years old today, then takes his passenger of the day for a ride to open tombs on some major roads of Manhattan… or almost.

Indeed, as you will easily realize, the NBC channel, author of the video, took care to “fake” the images to give the illusion of a mad race filmed by helicopter. The gag ends with a smiling Trump on arrival, showing off his blonde locks still perfectly groomed, despite the “high speed” and a total absence of a helmet!
