British actress Patricia Hitchcock died Monday at the age of 93 in Thousand Oaks, California, where she lived. She confirmed the death for the weekly Variety her daughter Katie O’Connell-Purple.
She was the only child of the famous horror director Alfred Hitchcock, who cast her in his films. Her best-known role is a fellow protagonist in the film Psycho, which was also directed by her father.
She also appeared in Horror on Stage, Strangers on a Train, The Case of Thomas Pyke, and the television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents and My Little Margie. She also contributed to Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine, named after her father, and contributed to her mother’s biography.
Patricia was born in London. In the late 1930s, when World War II began in Europe, she moved with her parents to Los Angeles. In the 1950s, she married Joseph E. O’Connell, with whom she spent more than 40 years until his death and with whom she raised three daughters.
