The Dangers of Going into Space Without a Space Suit

Wearing a space suit is essential for astronauts to operate safely in outer space.

The famous German science YouTube channel Kurzgesagt has released a video showing what happens when a person goes into space without wearing a space suit, IT media Gigajin reported on the 21st (local time).

When a person comes out without a spacesuit in an airless space, the gas expands in the lungs and blood first, and the moisture in the body boils and evaporates and is released outside the body. Skin and organs that lose moisture lose their function.

In addition, the oxygen required to maintain consciousness is supplied to our brain for about 15 seconds. However, it does not last long, and humans suffocate within two minutes after going out into space, the video explained.

What happens to the corpse of a suffocated human? If there is a star like the sun nearby, the corpse will be burned to a crisp. However, in cold deep space far from stars, corpses do not freeze immediately and take time. This is because there is no air in space and convective heat conduction does not occur.

Outer space is an extreme environment where there is no oxygen or water, and the temperature can literally be very hot or freeze in an instant. In this environment, corpses are expected to float in space for millions of years without decomposing like the Earth.
