The Dangers and History of the Guinness World Record for the Longest Kiss

KOMPAS.com – The world record for the longest kiss category by Guinness was removed in 2013.

Guinness removed it on purpose because the record-breaking competition had become too dangerous.

Some rules also conflict with current and updated record holder policies.

Reporting from NDTV, the rules of the Guinness World Record for the longest kiss are that the kiss must be continuous and the lips must touch at all times. Couples will be disqualified if lips part.

Contestants are also allowed to consume liquids through a straw during the experiment, but lips must not be parted.

It is important for the partner to always be awake and must stand during the experiment and cannot be supported by any aids, without being allowed to rest.

Adult diapers/diapers or incontinence pads should not be used. Couples are allowed to use the toilet, but they must still kiss while doing so.

Because breaks weren’t allowed, and the records that had to be broken became longer and longer, participants tended to succumb to the dangers associated with sleep deprivation, such as psychosis.

There have been instances of contestants suffering ill effects from performing such stunts.

Despite winning the contest, they are rushed to the hospital, where they are treated for exhaustion.

Karmit and Dror won a trip around the world and $2,500 in cash.
