The Daile Theater’s Technologically Complex Productions: Challenges for Actors and Technical Staff

“This is a technological challenge, because the play is technically complex. It is a challenge for the theater actors in terms of training, as well as for the technical staff to build the entire machinery of the production,” Žagar emphasized.

Later, the premiere of the production “The Red Prince” will take place. The director of Daile Theater said that the play has not been written yet, but the playwright Gritzmanis is working on it. Estonian Tits Ojaso will be the director of the production. On the other hand, in the spring of next year, the production of William Shakespeare’s “Winter’s Tales” by the British director Jeff James will be able to be seen at Dailes Theater.

“All the productions are full of actors. Malkovich’s production has 22 roles and 80 costumes, Kairis’ production will also have most of the actors’ troupe occupied. In “The Red Prince” and “The Winter’s Tale” practically all the actors will also play. This will be a tough season for the actors, everyone will have a lot of work,” said Žagar.

On the other hand, on September 27, the new production of the British director Amy Milburn’s “Ritual Slaughter of a Good Guy” will have its premiere in the Small Hall. On the other hand, on November 15, the premiere of director Anna Abalikhina’s new production “Euridīke” will take place in the Small Hall. It is planned that on January 17, the director Inese Mičule and the actress of the Daile Theater Ilze Ķuzule-Skrastiņa will invite the audience to the mono performance “All of them”.

At the press conference, the artistic director of the theater Kairišs emphasized that the new season is big and impressive. He noted that the Daile Theater has a status in Europe and the theater is becoming better known, but at the same time he called for understanding that the Daile Theater will never be a “decent status theater”.

“We will always challenge ourselves and others as well. The symbol of the theater is a flame. We will continue to burn. Only in this way will we continue to move forward,” Kairis said.
