The Romanian car manufacturer Dacia with the compact model Sandero also maintains the first position in the European new car market in May.
According to Jato Dynamics statistics, the Dacia Sandero has become the most popular choice for European buyers for the second month in a row, holding the top spot with 21,745 units. True, this time only slightly more than 200 cars ahead of the Tesla Model Y electric crossover, which was chosen by 21,530 buyers.
The top three is rounded off by the German crossover Volkswagen T-Roc with 18,333 copies, slightly behind Peugeot 208 with 18,157 registrations. Only slightly behind is sixth-placed Renault Clio (18,087), ahead of the Opel/Vauxhall Corsa (17,405 units) and Toyota Yaris (15,741). The once so successful Volkswagen Golf (15,424) is in 8th place, Škoda Octavia (15,183) is in 9th place, and Peugeot 2008 (14,845) completes the top ten.
If we look at the registration statistics of fully electric vehicles, Tesla Model Y (21,530 units) is in first place with more than twice the number of cars sold, the second place is taken by Volkswagen ID.4 (8543), and the third place is taken by the Chinese manufacturer MG with its model MG4 (6310).
