The Czech floorball players advanced to the World Championship finals for the second time in their history and will at least equal the silverware success of 2004.
In the semi-final at the Swiss Arena in Zurich, coach Jaroslav Berka’s boys beat Switzerland 11:3 at home, and on Sunday from 15:45 they will play a historic triumph against Sweden. The Swiss will face Finland at noon for the bronze medal.
Marek Beneš helped the Czech team win with four points for one goal and three assists. Three points were scored by Filip Forman (2+1) and Filip Langer (1+2), defender Adam Hemerka scored two goals. The representatives defeated the Swiss, just like last year at the World Cup in Helsinki, in the duel for bronze.
The Czechs thus have a certain fifth medal at the 14th championship. In addition to the silver after the final defeat in 2004, the Swedes also won three bronzes in 2010, 2014 and last year.
