Czech hockey players will play next year at the World Cup in Basic Group B in Tampere with home Finland, the United States, Sweden, Latvia, Norway, Belarus and the United Kingdom.
According to the ranking of the International Federation IIHF, Russia was supposed to be Russia’s place in the group, but the organizers used the opportunity to exchange one opponent in this case.
The Russians will play in Group A in Helsinki with Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Slovakia, Denmark, Kazakhstan and Italy. The tournament will take place from May 13 to 29.
It will be played in Tampere in the new Uros Live Arena for 13,500 spectators and in Helsinki in Hartwall Arena for 13,506 fans.
After seventh place at the World Championships in Riga, the Czech hockey players fell from 28th to sixth with 2895 points in the ranking of the IIHF. Golden Canada remained in the lead with 3235 points ahead of the second second Finland (3125) and Russia (3050), which offended third place.
The United States jumped from sixth to fourth place (2945) and Germany moved from seventh to fifth place (2905). The Swedes (2880), on the other hand, fell from fourth to seventh place.
The IIHF rankings rank countries according to their success over the last four years, including placements at world championships and the Olympic Games. The points awarded from the three previous championships are reduced by 25 percent each year.
