Goals by David Krejčí and David Pastrňák helped hockey players from Boston win 5:3 in Monday’s NHL game on the ice in Tampa Bay. Krejčí added an assist on goal and scored at least two points in a game for the third time this season. Pavel Zacha also got into the statistics with one registration.
Pavel Zacha also got into the statistics with one registration. Martin Nečas scored his ninth goal of the season, Tomáš Hertl his fifth. Goalkeepers Vítek Vaněček and David Rittich won.
Boston lost on Tampa Bay ice by the ninth minute, but overturned the score with five straight to win the seventeenth game of 19 so far. Krejčí held the main share of the turnover. In the 16th minute he overtook Andrej Vasilevsky with a hard shot and equalized with the sixth goal of the season, prepared the second goal in cooperation with Zacha for the arrival Nick Foligno and brought his season tally to 14 Canadian points.
Impressed by David Krejčí:
5-1 in power play Pastrňák, who enters the statistics for the seventh consecutive game and confirms himself among the leaders in productivity in the league. With 29 points (12+17), the native of Havíř is fifth with two points lost by the second Leon Draisaitl. Leader Connor McDavid has four more points.
David Pastrňák’s goal:
Ultimately, Tampa corrected the score with two goals, but didn’t avoid their first loss after four games. Boston won its seventh straight and continues to dominate the entire NHL.
A significant milestone was achieved in the game by Patrice Bergeron, who scored his 1,000th NHL point with an assist on Boston’s third goal. The Bruins captain scored a historic goal after the puck fortunately rebounded off him and finisher Brad Marchand’s stick. “I didn’t realize the record touched me until I saw Brad’s reaction,” said a delighted Bergeron.
“It’s a special moment for me, it doesn’t happen every day. It’s another milestone in my career, I had no idea what I was going to achieve. I’m glad I was able to cross that line with this group.” added Bergerón. He celebrated his record jubilee with the whole team right on the ice.
The Boston captain became part of the elite company in the club’s history. Only Ray Bourque (1,506), Johnny Bucyk (1,339) and Phil Esposito (1,012) have crossed the 1,000-point mark in a Bruins jersey before him. “Had he been more selfish, he could have scored 1,200 or 1,300 points a long time ago. But he is completely dedicated to the team, he doesn’t try to chase personal results. He is always thinking about the team, that’s what makes him great,” said l ‘coach Jim Montgomery on Bergeron.
New Jersey hockey players have an even longer winning streak than the Bruins, who beat Edmonton 5:2 thanks to 28 saves by Vaněček and won their 13th consecutive game. The Devils thus equaled the club record from the 2000/01 season, in which they reached the final, where they lost to Colorado in the seventh game. Vaněček extended his winning streak to ten duels. He has so far only tasted the feeling of defeat in the first game of the season against Detroit (2: 5).
“We made history as a club. No one is going to take that away from us, it’s a really good feeling. I showed that we are a good team that can win even difficult matches. We don’t have to hide anymore.” said Devils captain Nico Hischier, who set up three goals against Edmonton.
Rittich celebrated his third win of the season after making 24 saves to help Winnipeg win a 4-3 overtime victory over Carolina. The Jets won their third of their last four games, the Hurricanes picking up a point for only the third time in a row. Not even a strong third-period finish in which manager Rod Brind’Amour whipped out the keeper and the six visiting men scored three goals in four minutes, nine seconds helped them break their streak.
“In the five-on-five we didn’t do very well, we had to change something. Jacob Slavin’s nice goal kicked us off and we were able to follow up with two more goals,” said Nečas, who equalized at 19: 21 at 3 p.m. For the third time in a row, though, Carolina didn’t manage overtime, Josh Morrissey scoring one more run for Winnipeg.
Hertl helped San Jose win 5-1 over Ottawa. In the 36th minute the Czech striker skilfully overturned Logan Couture’s attempt to score the 4:1. With his 18th point of the season, he also confirmed his position as the fourth most productive Czech in the NHL. San Jose won the fourth of their last six games to move to 12th in the Western Conference standings. Ottawa remains last in the East.
