The development of the coronavirus epidemic in the Czech Republic is a matter of great concern, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said on Thursday. According to his report, the situation is unlikely to improve in the coming days.
The EU Agency for Infectious Diseases also ranked Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Malta, Romania and Spain among the most at risk.
According to the ECDC, the number of cases of severe coronavirus infection in these seven countries is growing rapidly, as is the number of hospitalizations in general.
The center also notices higher mortality rates. “In these countries, we may see increasing or high numbers of deaths, or we will see them in the near future,” the ECDC report said, adding that in some regions of these countries, healthcare provision is “under pressure” and a large number of those infected are even among health professionals. .
“The overall risk of coronavirus transmission in these countries is assessed as high for the majority population and very high for the most vulnerable age groups,” the report said.
This is not the first time that the Czechia has been perceived as one of the most risky countries. Already on Monday from ECDC data it turned out that the Czechia is the second most affected country after Spain. Due to the rapid spread of Covid-19, the Czechs have already restricted entry to 20 states.
In a further 12 countries, the ECDC observes the spread of coronavirus mainly among younger years, but they do not usually develop stronger symptoms. These include Slovakia, the Netherlands, France and the United Kingdom.
ECDC has 290 employees, including scientists. Its main task is to help EU Member States manage the spread of infectious diseases and provide expert advice.
Germany has included most of the Czech Republic among the risk areas due to the spread of coronavirus. More in the TV Nova report:
