Year-on-year inflation in the European Union rose to a record 7.8 percent in March from 6.2 percent in February, according to the European statistical office Eurostat. The Czech Republic is among the countries with the highest inflation within the EU, with inflation of 11.9 percent. Inflation also accelerated in the euro area, to 7.4 percent from 5.9 percent in February. A year ago, it was only 1.7 percent, Eurostat pointed out.
