Tesco, which operates over 200 supermarkets in the Czech Republic, has introduced new benefits for its employees. However, it affects women the most, the company will match their 100% wage during maternity leave. It will start this summer.
This also applies to parents who adopt a child. “If parents are no longer entitled to maternity or parental leave when adopting an older child, the new rules offer 8 weeks of paid leave so that colleagues can adapt to the new family situation,” said the retail chain.
Men get two weeks of paid paternity leave, by law they are only entitled to one week. According to Tesco, these are benefits that are unique in the Czech Republic.
All parents who work for the company will also be able to choose four weeks of unpaid parental leave. Until his youngest child celebrates his 18th birthday. The company also thought of couples who were just trying to conceive babies. In the treatment of fertility, employees are entitled to a week of paid leave.
The new benefits will also affect people after long-term incapacity for work due to a serious illness or injury. They can work part-time for the first four weeks, but Tesco will pay them 100 percent of their salary.
