A new social network has started operating in beta in the Czech Republic Pickey. It gives creators space to publish photos, videos, podcasts and texts, and their supporters the opportunity to subscribe to selected work. The entire platform is in Czech and all payments are made in crowns. This is different from the longer-existing Czech platform Hero Herowhich has an interface in English and payments in euros. Another similar project is set to start soon Gazetisto.

“I was completely exhausted by the system by which creators in the Czech Republic make money. I thought that if I saw my favorite once again doing a forced advertisement for a washing machine, I would try to do something about it, “he says. Denisa Hrubešováwho is behind the Pickey project. He is a co-founder and developer of the platform David Slačálek.

Hrubešová paid for about a year of Pickey’s development with her own money. The platform is now open to the public. For now, you can only enter the creator mode by invitation, from September it will be open to everyone. Payments are made on a monthly basis, the amount of the subscription is determined by the creator. Pickey takes a 15% commission on payments (for the aforementioned HeroHero it is 10%).

Among the first creators on the platform are Rostislav Oboňa alias Old annoyance, which is known for its Radio Zeitung project or is an author on the Internet The events of Luděk Staňek on Mall.tv, distillery Martin Žufánekwho wants to publish exclusive information about limited editions or audiovisual fragments there, or a marketer Tomas Pflanzer. Žufánek and Pflanzer Agency Wiseguys helps Pickey with marketing.
