“The Czech Republic Lifts Obligation for Mandatory Isolation of COVID-19 Positive Cases”

The Czech Republic has lifted the general obligation to isolate people who have tested positive for the corona virus. Since Thursday, isolation at home has no longer been automatically ordered for seven days, but only in individual cases, for example if those affected work with immunocompromised patients. This was announced by the Ministry of Health in Prague. The relaxation also applies to tourists. Those infected with symptoms of the disease are nevertheless strongly recommended to stay at home in order to recover quickly and not to endanger anyone else, it said.

The quarantine for contact persons of sick people had been abolished more than a year ago. According to the Ministry of Health, the number of corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days is currently 14 in the Czech Republic, but only a few tests are carried out. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 42,000 people have died in connection with a Sars-CoV-2 infection in the EU member state with around 10.5 million inhabitants.
