The whole of Europe, and with it the Czech Republic, is experiencing a difficult period, as we do not remember. It is another type of crisis that we could not have imagined in advance and basically no one has warned of its possible arrival in time. Perhaps also because it is caused by an unlikely confluence of simply unpredictable circumstances.
Is there also a solution?
What is certain, however, is that electricity and gas prices have jumped to levels where people can practically no longer afford them. Families are imaginary in the face of the coup de grâce, when their suppliers can match their prices to those for which they are bought on the stock exchange. And they have already done so to many, because they have converted them into spot price lists.
It is therefore not surprising that states are trying to resolve this situation in some way. However, many experts point out that not only is there no simple solution, but most likely there is no solution. That is, starting from the assumption that the causes of the problem cannot be eliminated, including the unfathomable conflict, but also the European effort for the production of clean energy.
One of the plans that at first glance seems to be the most feasible is the ceiling on energy prices. However, according to David Kučera, who is the head of the Prague Energy Exchange, this would only create another even bigger problem.
A badly aimed shot
In an interview with Lidovky.cz, this expert is surprised that there is no mention of the risk of a blackout at all. At the same time, it is a situation that can easily happen. And this is where unproven experiments will be conducted, with limited prices, for example. In this way we will make energy available to families, in this case electricity, but only in appearance. As a result, this will lead to shortages and market collapse.
So it’s a big question whether to start something like this. A blackout doesn’t have to be just a routine power outage lasting several minutes. If this source of energy is not available, we can easily remain without basic needs for many days. At the same time, today we are completely addicted to electricity, and some forecasts then paint unpleasant visions that such a moment could cause society to disintegrate.
