The Czech Foreign Minister agreed that Ukrainian troops invaded Russian territory. “According to international law, Ukraine has the right to defend itself against Russian aggression by attacking Russian territory,” Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky said on Tuesday, August 13 in Prague.
“The international legal order allows Ukraine to defend itself on the territory of the aggressor. Russian aggression against Ukraine since 2014 has made the lives of millions of innocent people impossible. If we want a just world, and not just an illusion of peace, the solution is to return all forces to internationally recognized borders,” the Czech Foreign Minister wrote in a post published on – platform X.
This is how Minister Jan Lipavsky responded to the Ukrainian army’s attack on the Kursk region of the Russian Federation in his post.
Since February 2022, the Czech Republic has been supporting Ukraine, constantly providing weapons and ammunition to the Ukrainian army as well as political and humanitarian support. Czech authorities have already provided temporary shelter to more than half a million Ukrainian refugees, of which approximately 350 thousand are still in the Czech Republic.
