The Czech hockey players entered the world championship victorious, in Calgary they defeated Denmark 6: 1 in the opening match of the tournament. Coach Tomáš Pacina’s trustees won three times in the Group B match in overpowering games, with captain Alena Mills taking part in the hat-trick and assisting with the victory. Pavlína Horálková scored four points for passes.
The Czechs started actively, they did not use several promising initial chances, but in the 7th minute they took the lead in the power play. She opened the score with a shot from the blue line of the Mills. The second goal was added in the 13th minute by Lásková, who took advantage of Mrázová’s pass.
Two minutes later, the Danes reduced, when they also gained a numerical advantage. Persson punished Frost’s expulsion. In the first period, however, the Czechs gained a two-goal lead back, in the next power play Přibylová scored.
In the second period, the Czech hockey players did not take advantage of four numerical advantages, but right at the beginning of the third part, in the continuing advantage, she hit the Mills match for the second time. The favored Czechs had a significant shooting advantage and eventually added two more goals. After Friday, she completed the hat-trick Mills.
The next match will be played by Czech hockey players on Sunday, when they will play Hungary from 20:00 CEST.
