The Czech hockey championship with Latvian participation was suspended until October 25

The tournament of the Czech Extraordinary League, in which five Latvian hockey players have also applied, was suspended until Monday, October 25, at the extraordinary general meeting of the Association of Professional Clubs by video conference, the website of the Czech Ice Hockey Association (ČSLH) reported.

Czech hockey extras clubs in a video conference on Monday at an extraordinary general meeting of the Association of Professional Clubs approved changes to the game plan, thus taking into account the Czech government’s resolution of 8 October on the suspension of top league competitions until 25 October 2020.

“Should the deadline for the suspension of professional competitions be extended, the extreme time constraints of the season would be seriously jeopardized, which will be further reflected in the loss due to missed matches,” the statement said.

The announcement says that the extravaganza clubs will prepare an open letter to the Minister of Health Romano Primula with a request to allow training until October 25 and other arguments to allow the competition to take place.

“Ekstralīga wants to continue the competition and for the time being with the current restrictions of the spectators to please the fans using TV screens,” the club said in a message.

This season, 14 teams play in the strongest league in the Czech Republic. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the units have played a different number of games – from two to seven matches.

For example, only two of the seven games scheduled for Sunday took place, with the rest being postponed due to Covid-19 illness.

Tršineca’s “Ocelārži” represented by Guntis Galviņš is in fifth place with six points, followed by “Mlada Boleslav”, represented by Māris Bičevskis, with the same number of points in four games. With two points in two matches in the 11th position, among the 14 teams is Ralph Freiberg’s team Brno “Kometa”, but Uvja Balinskis and Oskars Cibulskis Litvinova’s “Verva” has played three matches and takes the last place without points.
