The Czech Football Association (FAČR) was searched on Friday for a match-fixing case.
According to Prague prosecutor Daniel Bartartova, 16 out of 20 people are suspected of accepting a bribe, three of giving a bribe and one of mediation.
A total of 19 people have been arrested, who are described as part of the Czech football community. The FAČR made no secret of the search of its premises on Friday and emphasized that it was cooperating with investigators.
According to police, the search was carried out in several places in the country. Neither the prosecutor’s office nor the FAČR confirmed the news in the media that Roman Berbr, the vice-president of the association, was among the detainees.
Local media reported that the suspects had participated in influencing the results of the matches in the Czech lower league tournaments.
