Tesla is finally gearing up for it quite official launch of Cybertruck.
The Cybertruck launch party is expected on the eve of September
We haven’t heard anything from the company yet, but X has uploaded a video showing the special pickup on a glacier. Does it sound like a traditional test location to test the ice/snow properties? No, this is surely intended to be used in marketing in some way – especially because we see the open back door of the black car from which it is filmed.
Either in the form of TV advertising, photos, clips for social media or perhaps something for the launch press conference? Regardless of the format, it is natural that they start production now as mass production begins in earnest next year.
Elon Musk started talking about what would become the Cybertruck in 2013, then it took many years before Tesla held a press conference, now almost four years ago, where they showed off the design for the first time. Then the launch was promised in late 2022, then the summer of 2023. In the end, Musk and the team ended up deciding on a smaller number of deliveries on the eve of 2023, with the lion’s share intended for next year.
Don’t believe in more than 1000 this year
There have not been the major leaks beyond constant drone footage and photos/video of random passers-by, especially in the last year in California.
The final specifications (starting prices initially announced at $40,000 and $50,000 – it is doubtful that these prices will remain) are expected by the company sometime before the delivery of the first models, perhaps in September or October. Electrek doesn’t think Tesla will deliver more than 1,000 cars this year, but maybe 50,000 to 100,000 next year.
