What are the outstanding product features – especially beyond the cost-effective basic protection?

Dr. Martin: We offer a so-called “increase guarantee” in all tariff variants: our customers can increase the sum insured once within the first three years, even after signing the contract – without giving health data or reasons.

Another special feature is the emergency aid. So that the surviving dependents receive financial help as quickly as possible in the event of a claim, we pay an immediate aid of ten percent of the sum insured that was agreed at the time of the claim in the comfort and premium tariff. Immediate help because the benefit can be paid out before the actual benefit case assessment.

With the advance death benefit, we offer payment of the agreed sum insured to the beneficiary in the event of severe, progressive and incurable illnesses of the insured person even before death. For example, the family or the insured person can still fulfill one or two dearest wishes with the insurance benefit in the difficult time.

Many customers value flexibility when it comes to family insurance – how do you take this into account?

Dr. Martin: When developing our insurance products, we always focus on our customers and consequently flexibility is a key element of the product. As part of our reinsurance guarantee, there is the option of flexibly adapting the insurance cover to changed living conditions and the associated increased need for care even after the contract has been concluded. For certain events such as marriage or birth or respectively. If a child is adopted, the sum insured can be increased by up to a total of EUR 100,000 – without having to answer questions about the health of the insured person.

In addition, we have a children’s and home ownership bonus included in our premium tariff. As a rule, the need for survivors’ insurance increases if a child sees the light of day or a property is bought or built for personal use. After these events, we will increase the agreed death benefit – limited to six months – by up to 30,000 euros. The insurance cover in the event of death increases automatically during these six months.

Another highlight is the extension option in the premium tariff, which ensures a high degree of flexibility. Because with it, the insurance cover can be extended once for up to ten years. This can be activated up to three years before the insurance expires and by the end of the 15th insurance year at the latest – here too, of course, without further inquiries about the health of our customer or the insured person.
