Jakarta –
Long time rival in Spain, Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi now shoulder to shoulder at Paris Saint Germain. For some fans, the closeness of the two still looks strange.
Ramos and Messi were rivals for more than 10 years while playing for Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively. Now, the two have become team-mates since joining PSG in the summer of 2021.
Ramos did not hesitate to praise Messi, as he did after PSG’s dramatic 4-3 win over Lille, Sunday (19/2/2023). In that match, Messi became the winner through a free kick goal.
“I’m not surprised to see Messi. At Barca, he’s used to deciding matches like he did today. I’m happy now he’s in my team,” Ramos said as reported by Football Espana.
“Of course it’s better if he becomes a teammate. Whoever is given a choice, team with Messi or be an opponent, the answer must be quick and honest,” he added.
Ramos admits that his relationship with Messi is indeed curious. However, the 36-year-old defender ensures that he and Messi have a good relationship.
“This is something that arouses curiosity. But we have the same goal: to win with PSG. We want to make the team better, with experience and good performances,” he said.
“My relationship with Messi is good. There is great respect between the players,” said Sergio Ramos.
