The Curia in Katowice changes the rules of the New Year’s carol. “Only by invitation”

The current epidemic situation makes it impossible to carry out the so-called Christmas carols in their traditional form – informed the Katowice Metropolitan Curia. Pastoral visits were limited to blessing new houses and apartments “at the invitation of the hosts”.

These are the next changes in the Katowice Archdiocese caused by the epidemic situation. On Wednesday, Archbishop of Katowice. Wiktor Skworc announced that the beatification of Fr. Jan Franciszek Macha was moved to 2021.

According to the earlier plan, Fr. Jan Macha – a Silesian clergyman executed in 1942 by the Nazis – was to be beatified on October 17 in the Katowice cathedral. The beatification mass, for which preparations were already advanced, was to be presided over by the prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Card. Angelo Becciu, who was consulted on the rescheduling of the ceremony.

The new date for the beatification of Fr. Macha will be announced after the approval of the Secretariat of State of the Holy See.

Regardless of other organizational changes of a national nature, it was decided in the Archdiocese of Katowice, inter alia, on the change of the formula of this year’s state pilgrimages of men (May) and women (August) to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Love and Social Justice in Piekary Śląskie.
