“I want to tell you the epidemiological information provided by DADIS, which shows us that, in effect, there is an increase in contagiousness and there is a high viral circulation; However, Cartagena has not exceeded 65% occupancy of ICU hospital beds for several weeks, which shows that we are not at the same critical level as other cities. In fact, today the occupancy level of ICU beds in the city of Cartagena dawned at 58%, “said the mayor.
In relation to the possible arrival of the new virus strain to the country and the city, Dau reported that, between the National Institute of Health and the laboratory of the University of Cartagena, led by Dr. Doris García, a study is being carried out with samples from September to date, to identify whether the new virus has been present or circulated in the city.
“We will report the results in a timely manner, once the investigation is concluded. Meanwhile, as highlighted by the Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz, in Colombia it has not been proven that there is circulation of this new strain, ”said Dau Chamatt.
