The Cure’s Roger O’Donnell reveals he has blood cancer

Roger O’Donnell — The Cure’s longtime keyboardist — has blood cancer… revealing the shocking news a year after he was first diagnosed.

The musician attended X Sunday for Blood Cancer Awareness Month… and says he wants to make sure people are talking about these deadly diseases.

O’Donnell reveals that she was diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, in September 2023… saying she had ignored her symptoms for a while before finally going to see a doctor when she learned about the cancer.

Although he was devastated at first, Roger says he now feels well and has an excellent prognosis…this after undergoing multiple rounds of treatment.

Roger’s big advice for people… get tested early, because people have a better chance of beating cancer if they act quickly.

He also encourages fans to reach out to sick friends and family members… because kind words can make all the difference to someone struggling with their health. He thanks his loved ones and the medical professionals who helped him through the process.

Roger toured with The Cure from May to September last year… and it seems he received his diagnosis just after it ended. He joined the group in 1987 playing with them for multiple stints over the years.

The Cure have no upcoming tour dates… it’s unclear if O’Donnell will be ready to tour with the band when they schedule their next show.
