The Cure’s ‘A Forest’ Wins #1 in New Wave 100 for Third Consecutive Year

On Friday you got to hear the best that the dark and nostalgic genre has to offer for no less than eight hours. Together with her listeners, radio station Willy went in search of the most iconic New Wave record and there is clearly one song that will win: ‘A Forest’ by The Cure.

After previously being at #1 in 2020 and 2021, Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Jason Cooper, Reeves Gabrels, Roger O’Donnell and Perry Bamonte will once again show off the gold medal this year.

This year there were no fewer than sixteen new songs in the New Wave 100. The Belgians are also well represented this year with no fewer than nineteen songs. Tv Treated by The Neon Judgment is ranked highest at #3. Joy Division is most often in the list with six tracks.
