The cumulative incidence of Vigo breaks the barrier of 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants | Radio Vigo

Vigo this Sunday has broken a symbolic barrier in its progressive recovery from the pandemic. According to the data published this March 7 by the Department of Health, the accumulated incidence of the last 14 days has decreased in the city of Olives until the 98 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The city is thus below 100, despite the fact that just a month ago it was at 388.

In this way, the clear regression of the third wave is demonstrated, with infections in very low numbers. In fact, some statistics are already at the levels of last October. Sunday’s epidemiological report only counts 19 positives confirmed by PCR in the health area as a whole, which has a cumulative incidence of 93 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Let us remember that this parameter, which has traditionally performed better in the city than in the health area, turned upside down on Tuesday and now presents lower scales taking into account the average of the 26 municipalities that make up this space.

In fact, there are five municipalities (Oia, Salvaterra de Miño, Crecente, Arbo and Mondariz-Balneario) with no new infections in the last two weeks and nine without any positive detected in the last seven days (those already mentioned plus Nigrán, Gondomar, O Rosal and Fornelos de Montes).

The part of this Sunday also includes that the active cases of Covid-19 have fallen to 631. Of them, 44 are hospitalized on the ward and 15 in ICUs. This last parameter is the only one that worsens in the health area of Vigo, since it rises slightly for the third consecutive day. On Thursday there were a dozen admitted to the critics unit.

In any case, the positive progression that can also be seen in Galicia will not lead to changes in the current restrictions. At least, in what affects the hotel industry as stated this Sunday by the Minister of Health, Julio García Comesaña.
