The Authority for Culture and Media, the Authority for Schools and Vocational Education and Training and nine Hamburg foundations have endowed the “Culture & School” project fund with more than half a million euros for the current year in order to further strengthen cultural education at Hamburg’s schools. The focus of funding is in particular on cooperation between artists and cultural institutions with schools that promote cultural education in schools on a sustainable basis.

29 projects at schools were already approved in the spring. In a new funding round, the independent jury has now selected a further 27 projects that once again highlight the high quality of cultural education in Hamburg. All funded projects can start in the current school year. The current situation poses great challenges for the cooperation between culture and school. The funded projects respond with a high level of creativity and the necessary flexibility.
The next round of applications for projects that start between May and December next year am February 1, 2021 and runs until March 31, 2021.
How much art and culture are essential components of our society is becoming clear now, because there are so many offers that are sorely lacking. For young people in particular, the value of the inspiration and the means of expression that they receive through art and culture is hardly measurable. The fact that we are now able to support 27 outstanding cultural education projects together with the foundations in the fourth round of the project fund is also important now because children and young people have particularly suffered from the restrictions caused by the Corona measures. I would like to thank the applicants for their creative project proposals and the jury and the foundations for their important commitment.
