The Jonavas Cultural Center (JKC) submitted nine projects to the project funding competitions organized by the Lithuanian Cultural Council. On the first day of spring, when the results of the competition were announced, JKC’s creative staff rejoiced that even eight of the nine submitted projects received partial funding:
The ongoing project “Smiles for children: to inspire the legacy of artists Samulevičius” invites you to get acquainted with the legacy and history of three artists who lived and worked near Jonava, and immerse yourself in creative activities that will remind you of the works of these artistic people.
The project “Smiles for children: to inspire the legacy of artists Samulevičius”
The activities will take place at the memorial Samulevičius homestead and will cover several areas of art: Ilona Ežerinytė will tell a story in the creative workshop “Book Evaluation Criteria” and will give a practical understanding of how books are evaluated, what criteria should be used, “Scenos Menai” will conduct the creative workshop “Vitražinių šlamučių dirttuvės”, during which Stase Samulevičienė’s toys will be made, theater will be told, skills needed by actors, etc.
All children’s works will be exhibited in the autumn exhibition.
Project “Postcard from Jonava”
Jonava this year commemorates St. the 230th anniversary of the Church of St. James the Apostle. The history of the church is inseparable from the history of the noble Kosakovskys, the founders of the city of Jonava – this church, together with the building of the former monastery, are the oldest and only buildings that commemorate the times of the noble Kosakovskys and their work.
During the project, the series of events “How a postcard is born” and “A postcard from the heart”, creative workshops with graphic artist Vaiva Kovieraite-Trumpe will be organized. Historian dr. Vydas Dolinskas will reveal the history of the church’s founder, Bishop Juozaps Kazimiers Kosakovskis and St. the history of the Church of St. James the Apostle, the classical music ensemble “Regnum musicale” will perform.
During the project, postcards will be created, which will combine the works of a photographer, painter, graphic designer and modern technology creators. Anyone who wants to can send a postcard to friends and relatives for free.
Small theater festival “DEK”
The small theater festival “DEK” aims to attract to Jonava professional, modern theaters representing different genres and analyzing current topics from the big cities of Lithuania, which would create an alternative offer for the city’s culture market saturated with entertainment genres.
DEK is a four-day dose of professional theater for the youth and adults of Jonava. Performances and meetings with artists will be provided by the State University Art and Science Laboratory, Kaunas City Chamber Theatre, Vilnius Theater “Lėlė” and MB “Institute for Solidarity”.
Republic contract festival “Sutarysma”
“Sutarysma” is an ongoing project, the goal of which is to actualize the culture and intangible heritage of the Baltic people in the Jonava district by applying creative, inclusive and educational leisure activities.
In order to achieve the goal, in the months of February-May, eight introductory contract singing trainings “Ratu ratujo” with ethnomusicologist L. Liaudanskaite were organized in the district’s precincts.
The seminar “The future of contracts is in the hands of the little ones” is planned for March. Fundamentals and methodological tools of contract singing”. Theoretical-practical courses “Costumes of the White tribes: origin, relevance of preservation, practical application” will be held in May.
in 2023 July 15 the project will be completed by the contract festival “Sutarysma”, dedicated to celebrating the year of Aukštaitija.
The project “Culture at the intersection of tastes„
The project will invite all those interested in the culture and history of the Jonava region to cognitive-educational trips through the layers of history of the Jonava region, through food culture, through taste.
Professional and certified lecturers will accompany the participants in the cultural and taste-seeking trips and involve them in the activities: historian prof. R. Laužikas, reenactor of ancient meals E. Nurmi, educator of the Vilnius Gaon Jewish Museum N. Cheifec and others. Project activities will be implemented in Jonava city and district.
Educational theater project for district children and youth with disabilities “Equality Tree”
The 2023 theater educational project “Tree of Equality” is the fifteenth time that the Jonava Cultural Center will bring together teenagers experiencing social exclusion and the disabled for joint creative activities with theater professionals.
During the project, creative laboratories are organized for three days. During them, they dance, act, play theatrical games, create scenarios, which are performed on the stage on the last day. Laboratories create the greatest value by combining people with different intellectual and physical abilities, developing community spirit, empathy, creativity, and tolerance for others.
Festival of creativity “MU22”
During the creativity festival “MU22”, the musical poems “Forest” and “Sea” by Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis will be integrated and interpreted in creative activities that include art, theater and interdisciplinary art, the classes will be aimed at parents with small children.
The family will be enriched with their experience by Rūta Rastenytė-Matūzė, the founder of the art therapy studio “Rami dailė”, specialists from the Public Health Office, the modern and sensitive “Wind Theater”, which will help you feel, observe, listen, touch, smell. The program also includes a remote seminar on the influence of culture, art and physical activity on a child’s creativity.
Art Gallery Project “Creative Connections”
The main idea of the project is to involve young people in active creative activities with interesting creators of different fields, testing various creative activities, methods and creativity possibilities.
In order to increase the accessibility, accessibility and consumption of cultural services, two regional high schools and two public youth organizations were included in the project organization.
The project activities include eight creative-educational workshops, lectures, art therapy. The result created during the activities: an exhibition of works of art created in creative workshops, an exhibition of outdoor photographs “Creative connections moments” in Ramybės Square and an installation that will be exhibited in the lobby of the Jonava Culture Center.
