BUCHAREST – Failure Kylian Mbappe executing a penalty causes French National Team lost to Switzerland and fell in the last 16 of the 2020 European Cup. The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) player also apologized via his Instagram, @k.mbappe, for what happened.
The French national team was seeded before the match took place. However, Switzerland was actually able to make a surprise at the National Stadium, Bucharest, Romania, Tuesday (29/6/2021), early morning WIB.
Switzerland started the game well because they could take the lead in the 15th minute through Haris Seferovic’s action. However, that advantage disappeared in the second half as the French national team were able to create three goals through the actions of Karim Benzema (57′ and 59′) and Paul Pogba (75′).
Still, the Swiss worked wonders by equalizing before the match ended. Seferovic (81 ‘) and Mario Gavranovic (90’) were the Swiss saviors with their goals late in the match.
The match went to extra time, but no additional goals were scored and a penalty was awarded. All executors of the Swiss national team are able to carry out their duties well. On the other hand, Mbappe failed to execute a penalty so that the French national team lost 4-5 to Switzerland.
Mbappe was also in the spotlight for being the culprit of the failure of the French national team to advance to the quarter-finals. Therefore, Mbappe apologized for disappointing the fans of the French national team.
