Verden – There is no question how stressful the Corona crisis is for many people. Life is different than it was a year ago. Yamilka Mora felt this particularly well. A year and a half ago, the now 41-year-old Cuban with Spanish nationality moved to Verden. As soon as she arrived, the first, hard lockdown began.

“Yamilka is an incredibly communicative person. She loves to party, dance and meet new people at parties, ”reports Mora’s partner Rainer Klippe, with whom she lives in downtown Verden. “That’s why the lockdown hit them particularly hard.”

“At that time I fell into a severe depression,” recalls the Cuban. “I hardly got out of bed, had little motivation and couldn’t find a job because I couldn’t speak German very well. My mother tongue is spanish. I was just scared, ”describes Mora. All that changed suddenly one morning. “I had a dream. I can’t remember the details, but I woke up and was full of energy, ”she says. Because Mora knew exactly what to do: start a YouTube channel.

Not just any channel, however. “I love everything to do with fashion, hair, clothing and decoration,” reports Mora, beaming. This is exactly what their videos are about. “I would like to share my knowledge and ideas with others in order to maybe brighten up their boring Corona everyday life.” The channel called “Tops Model TMY” has been online for a month and a half and already has 80 subscribers. “We have already received over 4,000 clicks,” reports Rainer Klippe. “But you have to add that your channel is in Spanish and therefore not that accessible for people who can’t speak the language,” adds the native of Verden. That is why the couple is considering giving the videos in which they speak German subtitles.

Whether tips for a chic evening hairstyle, which bag goes best with which outfit, how to make a simple white blouse stylish in five different ways or how an avocado becomes a skin care regimen – Yamilka Mora shows it in her videos. Always there: her Chihuaha Kimchi. “He also has his own TikTok channel, but it has been running for a while,” says Mora, lifting the front leg to present his outfit, a sunny shirt and sombrero.

All of the videos that Mora has put online so far have been recorded, edited and edited with her mobile phone. “My goal is to collect 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours within one year,” said the 41-year-old. Because if these requirements are met, they can start a partnership with Amazon and receive shares of products to which they are linked under their videos.

“YouTube is now downright therapeutic for me,” enthuses Mora. Klippe adds: “She is there with so much fire and flame, it’s unbelievable. She already has ideas for videos for the next two months. “

In addition to her passion for YouTube, Yamilka Mora is also completing a German course to get to level B1 as well as distance training to become a geriatric nurse.

But what drew the Cuban woman to Verden anyway? “Well, love!” Was the prompt answer. “Three years ago I visited a friend here in Verden. At that time I was still living in Spain, ”says Mora. Together they then visited the Domweih, at which the 41-year-old fell in love not only with the architecture of the Allerstadt, but also with the Rainer Klippe in Verden. “A friend introduced us to each other,” reports Klippe with a smile. “Then it happened to both of us.”

In the months that followed, the man from Verden flew regularly to Spain to visit them. Eventually they both came to an agreement and ended their long-distance relationship and Mora moved in with him. “I love the city and the people so much. Of course I miss the celebrations, especially the cathedral consecration, but I don’t regret my decision to come here for a second.

Now she hopes to reach as many people as possible with her YouTube channel and is looking forward to an end to the pandemic soon so that the make-up and outfit tips can finally be used.
